Since 1990, India’s economy has grown almost sixfold, to US$9.16 trillion in 2019 in purchasing power parity terms – the third-largest in the world.10 Cities contributed 63% of GDP in 2011, and that share is expected to rise to 75% by 2030.11 An analysis of urban GDP growth to 2035 found all 10 of the world’s fastest- growing cities would be in India, with Surat, Agra and Bengaluru topping the lis.
