The relationship between Orthodox American Jews, the city and the suburbs is a dynamic one, and where Orthodox Jews chose to live continues to be a reflection of who they are and how they express their religious identities. Moreover, Orthodox Jews - unlike other of their co-religionists- have been able to make areas of Jewish scarcity, flourish: increasingly, they have changed the communities in which they have settled rather than being themselves changed.
