In June 2007, the Minister of Health accepted the Trans Fat Task Force report, but did not implement its recommendation to regulate the levels of TFA because the levels in the Canadian Trans Fats:. [...] Challenges in Estimating Intake and Food Content of TFA 1. Estimates of Intake Estimates of TFA in the diet vary not only with the dietary habits and food supply of a population, but also with the method used to estimate consumption (1). [...] The research conducted during the time since the release of the Trans Fat Task Force report has not been able to shed light on the potential effects of the different trans fats in hydrogenated fat. [...] The estimated intake of c9t11 by a group of healthy males living in Western Canada was reported to be at the lower end of the published reports (95 mg/d) (36), similar to the estimated intake in the U. S. (37). [...] In Europe the intake of industrially produced TFA has declined, and the majority of TFA in the diet are of ruminant origin (106).
