The agriculture sector must face the anticipated constraints of a limited supply of available and affordable clean water and take proactive measures to ensure the continuation of a healthy agricultural economy and landscape. [...] ADVOCACY The landscape of civil society organizations active in addressing water issues in California is vast, yet the stratum of those addressing the intersection of water supply and agriculture in a concerted way is surprisingly thin. [...] The Investment Strategy for California Water, published by xxiv Water for California and the Planning and Conservation League, reviews a broad range of water conservation and management options for California and forwards a proposal for the state to meet its water needs by increasing water conservation by a total of 4.4 maf/year. [...] The vast water conveyance infrastructure in the state was set up first and foremost to serve the needs of the large-scale blueprint agriculture of the Central Valley.
