The role of experience in determining consumer concerns about high blood pressure

3 Nov 2008

The structure of the regression analysis, the logic of interpreting results and generating hypotheses are the same as above, except that each construct appears as the dependent variable with the two remaining constructs as predictor variables. [...] Beyond establishing the significance of individual regression coefficients, an appropriate test procedure must include the joint hypothesis whether the intercept effect or the slope effects or both improve the goodness of fit of the estimated model significantly. [...] Furthermore, no prediction is made about the direction of the slope dummy variables capturing the impact of experience on the relationships between concerns on the one hand and vulnerability, severity and control on the other, as no prior empirical or theoretical information is available in this regard. [...] Also, establishing the presence or absence of such effects is the primary contribution of this paper to the literature, regardless of the direction of the impact. [...] Descriptive Statistics of the Sample Table II presents the descriptive statistics for the socio-economic, demographic and health behavior characteristics for the total sample and the sample segments representing four levels of high blood pressure related experience.
