[...] The purpose of this paper is to examine the socio-economic and lifestyle factors associated with obesity among adults from the CCHS: • Section 1 explores the prevalence of obesity and overweight (body mass index), and the relationship between obesity and overweight and age, sex, education, income, employment status, marital status, language, membership in a visible minority group and province; it [...] The sample was allocated in proportion to the population and number of health regions within a province or territory and, within provinces, was selected in proportion to the square root of the population of the health regions. [...] As age increased, the prevalence of overweight and obese adults increased, with 21% and 8% of adults aged 20–24 years classified as overweight and obese respectively, and 39% and 19% of adults 45–64 years considered overweight and obese, respectively.
