Whilst the Windsor Framework of early 2023 ended the deadlock in UK-EU relations, it took another year of talks between the UK government and the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), which continued to reject the provisions of the Windsor Framework, to re-establish the devolved government. [...] The Commission’s annual report also highlighted concerns about the impact of the Retained EU Law Act on the level playing field and of the Data Protection and Digital Information (No 2) Bill on the free flow of personal data between the EU and the UK. [...] means the host in the second half of the year, the Hungarian government, had to push back its summit to accommodate the UK. [...] Nevertheless, the issue of who manages the airport, the location of which is on the isthmus, remains the major sticking point. [...] The EU and the UK continue to work together well at the technical level to implement the TCA.
