The development objectives of the Strengthening Critical Infrastructure Against Natural Hazards Project for Tajikistan are to strengthen the recipient’s disaster risk management capacities, enhance the resilience of its critical infrastructure against natural hazards, and improve its capacity to respond to disasters. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) dust from work or transportation of aggregates, and cement should be minimized by spraying or other methods; (2) providing workers with protective equipment and special clothing, boots, helmets, and training in their use; (3) conducting training courses for operational maintenance and operation of the facility. Proper management and disposal of spent fuel and waste; (4) in the production area, the sound level during the construction period should not exceed the value recommended by the established standards; (5) sites should be equipped with information boards and signs informing workers about construction rules and work standards; (6) ensuring appropriate transport management on access roads to the site; (7) when carrying out construction work, women will be involved in carrying out light types of work: cooking, washing dishes, etc. (indicator); and (8) if the facilities are to be relocated or destroyed, it is necessary to discuss the terms of compensation and provide compensation before the implementation of the project, including crops and productive land.
