CIRCLE at 20 is a chronicle of our major initiatives and accomplishments
over the past two decades, and a roadmap to our north star: an American society where young people
have equitable access to civic learning and engagement opportunities that allow them to contribute to
communities—and, ultimately, to a thriving multiracial democracy. CIRCLE’s work is focused on the systems and structures that shape young people’s participation
in civic life: from classrooms, to communities, to the ballot box. We strive to strengthen those
that provide opportunities for all youth, and to effect change on those that present barriers to or
perpetuate inequities in engagement.
