Determinants of Health Worker Performance : A Review of the Evidence (English)

The report is organized around a conceptual framework that focuses on thedrivers of health worker performance in the health administration and in healthfacilities. The administration-level drivers focus on core stewardship functions- facility funding, supervision, and data-informed management. Administrationstaff includes positions from the Ministry of Health, as well as regional and locallevel public servants working in the health sector. In health facilities, the reportanalyzes management and work environment aspects that impact staff ability andmotivation to deliver services, including recruitment, performance management,teamwork, access to training, and intrinsic motivation. Health facility staffincludes doctors, nurses, community health workers (CHWs), midwives, andfacility managers, among others.
