Located to the north of Australia, PNG is made up of the eastern part of the main island that shares a land border with Indonesia (the Indonesian Island of Irian Jaya occupies the western half of the island) and a series of smaller islands to the north and east. [...] The objective of this paper is to assess the immediate impact of the Russia-Ukraine war that started in February 2022 on the demand and supply of agricultural foods, animal feeds, fuel, fertilisers, and forex (5Fs) in PNG as well the policy responses at the national level. [...] Nevertheless, as Figure 1 shows, the value of PNG exports has been generally fluctuating in the recent past, but the fluctuations appear to have been much more intense for PNG exports to the Russian Federation compared to fluctuations in the value of total exports to the rest of the world. [...] While the value of PNG exports to the rest of the world continued its upward trend in 2022, the value of exports to the Russian Federation took a nosedive in 2022.
