This policy note aims to outline the importance and provide empirical evidence on the conditions and risks associated with green, resilient, inclusive, and learning-oriented spaces in Brazilian schools. Measuring these dimensions using an index is the initial step towards evidence-based infrastructure investment in Brazil. Green schools are defined as those that reduce negative environmental impacts and avoid exacerbating climate change risks. Resilient schools are defined as those that can reduce the likelihood of severe damages caused by natural disasters and recover quickly from these events. Inclusive schools are those that enable all students to have access to learning. Learning-oriented schools are defined as those that have adequate capacity, meet basic infrastructure conditions, have adequate andadaptable spaces, are centered on students' needs, and have adequate furniture, equipment, and teaching and learning materials.
