Tajikistan - Climate-Smart Agriculture Profile for Tajikistan : Scaling Up Agricultural Solutions to Boost Productivity and Address Climate Change - Summary Report (English)

This climate-smart agriculture (CSA) profile identifies opportunities for the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to transform agriculture to increase productivity and enhance climate mitigation and adaptation. The CSA profile for Tajikistan provides a high-level overview of climate-smart agriculture practices, methodologies, and results relevant to the country's agricultural context. This profile's analysis and recommendations draw on an in-depth assessment of CSA opportunities in Tajikistan and consultations with a range of stakeholders. Sources include country statistics, climate change projections, policy documents, project reports, and research articles. The analysis also contains insight from the government, academia, industry associations and non-government organizations (NGOs), financial institutions, international development organizations, and the private sector. This input was gathered in focus group discussions and individual interviews. Tajikistan should recognize the livestock sector as a major contributor to agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and boost productivity to reduce emission intensity. Finally, Tajikistan should build its national capacity to measure, report and verify GHG emissions, moving from a Tier 1 to a Tier 2 approach for livestock.
