Oregon State had 3,831,074 residents enumerated in the 2010 Census. Table 1 shows the demographic breakdown of the state by Total Population, Voting Age Population (VAP) and Citizen Voting
Age Population (CVAP). We use the term POC (people of color) to refer to residents who are Hispanic
or have selected a non-White race in the Census (or both). Other racial group names (Asian, White,
etc) denote respondents who identied as non-Hispanic and selected a single racial category. In
total the POC share of Oregon CVAP is 16.73%. The distribution of POC residents across the state
is shown in Figure 1. Breaking down the POC population further, Oregon has only one individual
minority group that makes up more than 5% CVAP share: Hispanic/Latino residents (9.10% of VAP
and 7.52% of CVAP).
