PA4E1 is an effective program, we're now investigating how best to implement it across schools. What is it about?Physical Activity 4 Everyone (PA4E1) is one of very few effective comprehensive school physical activity programs for adolescents in secondary schools located in disadvantaged areas. You can find out more about the research results of the 2012-14 trial by checking the 'output' section below.
During 2017-2020, PA4E1 has been 'scaled-up' for delivery in more schools in NSW, Australia. Without delivering effective programs at scale, they reside in academic journals to 'collect dust'. Check out the results of the current trial as they emerge in the below 'outputs' section. Why is it important? We all know that physical activity is good for us. One way to tackle physical inactivity is through 'programs' that target particular settings such as schools. But finding programs for Governments to implement that are effective, cost-effective, feasible and scalable... that can sometimes be a challenge. PA4E1 from 2017-2020 is aiming to gather this data.
Physical inactivity costs the global economy $INT 53,800,000,000.
Physical inactivity causes ~10% of early death (5·3 of 57 million deaths yearly).
Physical activity brings many benefits beyond health, and we should start with our youngest generations.
