Rapport Spécial du GIEC sur les Océans et la Cryosphère dans le Contexte du Changement Climatique: Quels Impacts pour l’Afrique ? / IPCC Special Report on Oceans and the Cryosphere in Climate Change: What are the Impacts for Africa?

This Special Report was a response to the proposals of governments and organizations with observer status with the IPCC. As part of its preparation, more than 100 scientists from over 30 countries have brought together "the most recent scientific knowledge on the impacts of climate change on ocean, coastal, polar and mountain ecosystems, as well as the human communities that depend on them ”. Community vulnerabilities, coping capacities and options for societies to achieve climate resilient development paths were also examined. The conclusions of the Special Report are of great importance to Africa and the world. This publication serves as a guide for the IPCC Special Report on Oceans and the cryosphere prepared for African decision-makers by the Climate Alliance and Development (Climate and Development Knowledge Network - CDKN), Overseas Development Institute (ODI) and SouthSouthNorth (SSN). It is not an official publication of the IPCC. The IPCC's summary for policymakers primarily addresses the issues and global trends. This report presents the most relevant information on Africa and taken from the Special Report of over 700 pages. In different places, we have included additional material from recent published research that expands on and explain the points addressed in the Special Report of the IPCC. These additional elements are marked “External to the IPCC”. This guide responds to the demand for specific regional information from CDKN's African partner network. / Ce Rapport spécial était une réponse aux propositions des gouvernements et des organisations ayant le statut d’observateurs auprès du GIEC. Dans le cadre de sa préparation, plus de 100 scientifiques originaires de plus de 30 pays ont regroupé « les connaissances scientifiques les plus récentes sur les impacts du changement climatique sur les écosystèmes océaniques, côtiers, polaires et de montagnes, ainsi que sur les communautés humaines qui en dépendent ». Les vulnérabilités des communautés, les capacités d’adaptation et les options des sociétés pour parvenir à des voies de développement résilient au changement climatique ont également été examinées. Les conclusions du Rapport spécial sont d’une grande importance pour l’Afrique et le monde entier. Cette publication sert de guide pour le Rapport spécial du GIEC sur les océans et la cryosphère préparé à l’intention des décideurs africains par l’Alliance pour le Climat et le Développement (Climate and Development Knowledge Network – CDKN), Overseas Development Institute (ODI) et SouthSouthNorth (SSN). Il ne s’agit pas d’une publication officielle du GIEC. Le résumé du GIEC à l’intention des décideurs traite principalement des questions et des tendances mondiales. Ce rapport présente les informations les plus pertinentes sur l'Afrique et tirées du Rapport spécial de plus de 700 pages. À différents endroits, nous avons inclus des éléments supplémentaires tirés de recherches récemment publiées qui développent et expliquent les points abordés dans le Rapport spécial du GIEC. Ces éléments supplémentaires comportent la mention « Externe au GIEC ». Ce guide répond à la demande d’informations régionales spécifiques des réseaux partenaires africains du CDKN.
