These four lectures were given by Professor Cockram in 1963. The topic for these lectures were the Southern African region namely Rhodesia and Nyasaland, Basutoland, Bechuanaland and Swaziland, South West Africa and South Africa. For every state the geography and history is described, how they gained independence, the economic factors that influenced their development and the role of South Africa in Southern Africa is explained.
