This document evaluates data and opinion concerning medical education presented to the Coordinating Board and proposes recommendations to the legislature for enlarging medical opportunities in the state during the next decade. The bulk of the report contains appended reports, proposals, statistics, and discussions. Source material includes articles from professional medical journals, reports, evaluations, enrollment projections, feasibility studies, city proposals, medical education plans of other states, papers, statements, fact sheets from the American Medical Association and the Texas Medical Association, reports of visits to medical schools, medical centers, hospitals, university facilities, clinics, and special consultations with interested groups, individuals, and out of state experts.
