Rural Development Literature. An Annotated Bibliography, 1969-75.

References with annotations in seven key rural development areas and suggestions on sources of information are contained in this selective bibliography on rural development. Community leaders, rural development committees, researchers, and community resource development personnel should find the publication useful for identifying and obtaining literature or information for program design and implementation. Subject areas are (1) fire and emergency services, (2) health care delivery systems, (3) sanitary services and sewage systems, (4) manpower training and vocational education, (5) public recreational facilities and planning, (6) local government structure and taxation, and (7) rural housing. Only publications from 1969-75 which directly treat rural development in the U.S. are included, with emphasis on national or regional applicability. The more than 350 citations are listed according to publication date, with most recent first, and then alphabetized by title. Under each subject area, relevant agency sources of information, publications, visual aids, bibliographies, primary journals, and newsletters are given. A separate information source section related to all aspects of rural development lists agencies, regional rural development centers, current publications (directories, guides, journals, newsletters, bibliographies, indexes), and on-line search facilities.
