This unit is intended to teach about scarce resources and to relate them to basic economics and energy conservation. The content and activities of the unit are introduced through conversation and readings flexible enough for free student expression. The purpose of the study is to provide students with enough information about present and emerging sources of energy to enable them to analyze the problems, make some decisions at their own different levels of ability, and motivate them to become energy conservation activists. The unit is divided into four sessions. Background material is provided for each session and activities are suggested. (RH)
