Headquarters Economy Reshaping Hong Kong’s Role as a Super Connector

The number of companies withdrawing from Hong Kong in the last decade is the highest in the professional services sector at 53 (see Figure 2). [...] As a new form of economy in the development of industry chains and the high end of value chains, Headquarters Economy is conducive to facilitating division of labour 2 and achieving optimal space coupling between enterprise value chains and regional resources. [...] Towards this end, the authorities should deepen integration into the Belt and Road Initiative and the 6 development of the Greater Bay Area. [...] At the same time, the advantages of the Greater Bay Area should be exploited to promote connectivity with Mainland and overseas markets, rendering better cross-border investment and financing services for companies entering Hong Kong and the Greater China market.
