DPG is deeply committed to the growth of India’s national power and purpose, the security and prosperity of the people of India and India’s contributions to the global public good. [...] Coming close on the heels of the US-Japan 2+2 on July 28, the US-Philippines 2+2 on July 30 and the Japan-Philippines 2+2 on July 08, the event spoke of the growing interlinkages between US allies in the Indo-Pacific. [...] The AUKUS agreement and the web of alliances between Australia, the US, Japan and the Philippines (sometimes called the security Quad, or the SQUAD) lies at the centre of the military part of this architecture, while the QUAD, whose foreign ministers met in Tokyo on July 29, also forms part of the overall web. [...] It is intended to establish a legally-binding framework to facilitate the communication and exchange of naval nuclear propulsion information between and among Australia, the UK and the US, and the transfer of nuclear material and equipment from the UK and the US to Australia for conventionally armed, nuclear propelled submarines, under the enhanced trilateral security partnership ‘AUKUS’. [...] It requires Australia to indemnify the UK and the US against any liability, loss, costs, damage or injury arising out of, related to, or resulting from nuclear risks 22 Announcement of the Agreement Among the Government of the United States of America, the Government of Australia, and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for Cooperation Related to Naval Nuclea.
