– Argia calverti: Named calverti (Latinized name) in honor of the late Phil ip Powell Calvert (1871–1961), in recognition to his valuable contributions to the knowledge of Central American Odonata culminating in his contribution to the Neuroptera volume of the Biologia Centrali-Americana (1901–1908). [...] Carlvert because he was the first scientist to analyze and il lustrate the shape of the cerci of the new species and for his prominent contribution to the odonatology of the Neotropics. [...] The specific epithet is a noun in the genitive case and named in honour of the son of the first author, Cauê. [...] gassmanni: a noun in the genitive case and named in honour of Dr Dirk Gassmann, in recognition of his seminal contributions to the systematics of platycnemidid damselfl ies, especially in New Guinea. [...] The new species is named after the Japanese odonatologist and collector of the type specimen, Mr Haruki Karube of the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Natural History.
