The Foreign Service Act of 1991 further reinforced the Institute in providing that through its academic, training, research, information, publication, systems development and other programmes, the Institute shall serve as the center for the development and professionalization of the career corps of the foreign service of the Department and other government agencies which have officers and employee. [...] To serve as the institutional consultant of the DFA on foreign policy matters, as well as in the DFA’s development through various training programs, and assist in the planning and review processes of the DFA.
