The Davis Downside Dossier: The 2000 downsides of Brexit (CSV edition)

1 Oct 2024

Welcome to the Davis Downside Dossier in CSV compiled by Yorkshire Bylines. What began as an attempt to show just how mistaken David Davis was in October 2016 when, as the minister responsible, he told MPs “there will be no downside to Brexit at all, and considerable upsides,” has now become something of a cause célèbre. The 2000 downsides in this file were compiled by Yorkshire Bylines from January 1 2021 until September 30 2024. The database is also available as a pdf file. In fairness, Yorkshire Bylines also compiled upsides, which, over the same period, numbered 32. These can be found in a separate file. Note, because the new dossier uses a database and includes both downsides and upsides, entry numbers now use the database key. Regardless of how they’re sorted, each entry is identifiable by a unique number, which in most cases will be different to the entry numbers in the old list. The first one thousand downsides are also captured separately in a nice pdf organised by sector. We knew David Davis was wrong but we underestimated just how wrong he was.
