[...] Much of the population is concentrated in the eastern half of the country, which naturally leads to a greater number of protest events in those areas. [...] In addition to the size of cities, the type of protest is another factor. [...] Many of the top cities on a per capita basis are in Guangdong’s Pearl River Delta, in part reflecting the frequency of instances where labor in the country’s manufacturing hub has been impacted by the country’s overall economic slowdown.
