Ratings for the Strengthening Critical Infrastructure against Natural Hazards Project for Tajikistan were as follows: outcome and Bank performance was satisfactory, and monitoring and evaluation (M and E) quality was substantial. Some lessons learned included: it is beneficial for disaster risk management (DRM) projects to be designed with a comprehensive approach. Selecting the appropriate set of instruments and financing resources during project preparation is essential for successful achievement of the project outcomes. A strong emphasis on citizen engagement is essential for building trust in the project and ensuring support from local communities and beneficiaries, including vulnerable groups. Gender considerations should be adapted to the local context. Under multisectoral projects, consolidated monitoring, evaluation, and reporting arrangements is essential. Focusing on local labor employment not only creates jobs for local communities but also significantly reduces the risk of conflicts and helps mitigate potential gender-based violence.
