Positive effects of the project include the reduced loss of forest cover, ecosystems and natural habitats of wild flora and fauna; greater capacity of the national and local authories and local communities in prevention and response to forest fires; reduced emissions of greenhouse gases; and increased awareness about forest fires so as to accelerate the implementation of national and regional fore. [...] In order to mitigate these risks, the project will specifically focus on Objective 1 of the National Forest and Wildlife Policy: “Achieve effective management of forest ecosystems and other components of the Nation’s Forest and Wildlife Heritage”, which in item 1.5.7 states the need to prevent and control forest fires with the active participation of local communities. [...] In order to achieve the objective of helping to curb the loss of forest cover and wildlife habitats caused by forest fires by reducing the occurrence of forest fires that affect natural forests, forest formations and forest plantations at the national level, the following methods will be applied: • Planning, identification and demarcation of the most important areas for the establishment of head o. [...] The development of forest fire prevention and response protocols will lead to improved responses in the face of forest fires and will contribute to the formulation of relevant regulations, thus improving governance in the target departments, with the possibility of replication at the national level. [...] Moreover, the mainstreaming of project experiences will be facilitated by the dissemination of results in all the participatory events to be organized throughout the project with the participation of key stakeholders and representatives that are directly and indirectly involved in forest fire management in the project´s areas of action.
