Although the climate crisis is also having deadly consequences in the global North, the more precarious the circumstances, the greater the social and political impact of the dynamics involved. [...] This also raises questions for peace research and peace work, and requires both an adjustment in the focus of research and a change in practical peace work. [...] Despite the efforts of activists around the world who are fighting for a future worth living, sometimes at the risk of their lives, it does not seem possible to create a broad movement for climate justice and a socio-ecological transformation. [...] The neglect of climate and environmental factors also affects the practice of peacebuilding, even in regions massively affected by the climate crisis, such as the Sahel or the Horn of Africa, which also suffer from armed conflict. [...] Against this background, the NeFKÖ Annual Conference 2025 is dedicated to interdisciplinary perspectives on peace work in the context of the planetary crisis, with a focus on resistance and transformation.
