Here we summarize some key findings: The volunteer rate for 16-to-18 year-olds varies by state and year, from a high of 51% in Utah to a low of 14% in Mississippi in 2009, as shown in Map 1 and Table 1, and from a high of 52% in Montana to a low of 16% in DC in 2002, as shown in Table 8. [...] According to the CPS data, 19- to 24-year-olds in Seattle are the most likely to volunteer by mentoring youth (24.0%) or tutoring or teaching (23.3%), whereas 16- to 18-year-olds and those 25 and over are the most likely to fundraise or sell items to raise money (25.3% and 24.9%, respectively).
