The adoption of AI could lead to productivity gains and help SMEs to grow, upscale and Dr. [...] For policy, this needs to be used in broader communications to encourage more SMEs to adopt AI and allow communities to relax regarding the negative intentions surrounding the technology. [...] For example, programmes such as Farming Connect in Wales need to be supported and funded where they provide a gateway for rural SMEs (agriculture) to network and exchange best practice and technology adoption. [...] The technological access divide between rural and urban areas needs to be reduced; AI is relatively new to many SMEs; but is (by comparative measures) an easy technology to adopt for rural SMEs, therefore the communication of this to rural SMEs is essential; Rural growth strategies should incorporate networking opportunities and information sessions regarding AI, highlighting its available fun. [...] In conclusion, AI can be of benefit to rural SMEs and therefore rural communities, if adopted in a positive manner.
