Plains and steppe cover 95 per cent of the country, and the remaining areas are covered by the Polissya mixed forest in the north, the Carpathian Mountains in the west, and the Crimean Mountains in the south (Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine n.d.; USAID, 2016).
