Report of the expert meeting on video games and noncommunicable diseases – exploring future opportunities and challenges: 15–16 November 2021, Moscow, Russian Federation

This report summarizes the presentations and discussions at an expert meeting on future opportunities and challenges of video games for the prevention and care of noncommunicable diseases, held on 15 and 16 November 2021. The meeting, held online and in person, was co-hosted by the WHO European Office for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases and the WHO European Centre of Excellence for Quality in Care and Patient Safety. Participants presented information on the extent of gaming and evidence for the potential risks and benefits of video games for health and discussed the use of behavioural and cultural insights on video games to promote better health throughout the life course in a fast-changing digital world.
