The development objective of the Emissions Reduction (ER) Program Project for Guatemala is to make payments to the program entity for measured, reported, and verified (MRV) ER from reduced deforestation and forest degradation, as well as the enhancement of forest carbon stocks (REDD+) in targeted areas of Guatemala, and to ensure that paid amounts are distributed according to an agreed benefit sharing plan (BSP). The project comprises of two components. The first component, payment for MRV ERs seeks to support the MRV of ERs, and subsequent payment for the ERs. The second component, distribution of ER payments according to the BSP aims to distribute the ER payment agreement (ERPA) payments from verified ERs among participants of the ER program according to an agreed BSP.
