Component 1 will build upon the capacity of the country to face climate changes and one of the main activities will be the improvement of animal traceability and management of natural resources with emphasis on the design and adoption of agricultural insurance by producers. [...] The GoU has demonstrated a deep interest in applying the ESSs to improve the management of environmental and social risks in search of the sustainability and traceability of the country’s agricultural sector. [...] The environmental and social impacts of the project are expected to be largely positive as the project aims at (i) strengthening information systems for better environmental management and climate adaptation in agricultural production; (ii) enhancing animal welfare with the ensuing contribution to human health and the environment; and (iii) supporting a transition to agroecology in the agro-food s [...] The following instruments have been developed by MGAP to manage the Project’s environmental and social risks, namely: (i) Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) proportionate to the E&S risks and impacts (including SH/SEA risks, which have been rated as “LOW”) and in line with the Bank’s Environmental and Social Standards and the World Bank Group Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) [...] The ESMF includes: a) General assessment of the positive and negative, direct and indirect impacts of the project and define appropriate generic mitigation and management measures in accordance to the mitigation hierarchy b) A description of implementing arrangements including details on how environment and social risks, will be managed at the site-specific level.
