Global onitoring Report on the status of action against commercial sexual exploitation of children KENYA This publication has been produced with the financial assistance of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France, Groupe Développement and ECPAT Luxembourg. [...] It also seeks to contribute to other international mechanisms that exist to protect children’s rights; the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Optional Protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography so as to strengthen the implementation and action against commercial sexual exploitation of children at all levels. [...] It has been used in the same way to structure and guide the research, analysis and preparation of information presented in these reports on the status of implementation of the Agenda in the individual countries. [...] In relation to the role of the private sector, the implementation of the Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children in Travel and Tourism has encountered several difficulties, largely due to issues in the coordination between the Code stakeholders. [...] Children may be allowed to give evidence under the cover of a witness protection box, or through an intermediary; the court may direct that the proceedings may not take place in open court; or may prohibit the publication of the identity of the complainant or of the complainant’s family, including the publication of information that may lead to the identification of the complainant or the complain.
