Yes Board Approved Revised Project Development Objective (If project is formally restructured) The development objective of this project (KWSCRP-2) is to increase bulk water supply to Mombasa County and Kwale County, and increase access to water in Kwale County. [...] As of October 25, 2021, the Government of Kenya (GoK) has acquired 70 percent of the land required to construct the main and lower check dam. [...] The Mwache dam is now ready to move to the construction stage before the end of 2021. [...] Apart from the time constraints, the project also has a significant financing gap of US$150M due to a previous partial cancellation of IDA resources from the project, an increase in the cost of the dam after the design review and optimization, and the corresponding increase in the cost of managing environmental and social impacts of the dam. [...] The World Bank and GoK are currently discussing the possibility of additional financing and an extension of the closing date to ensure the project delivers on its original objectives.
