The main environmental risks are as related to: (i) equipment and training of the school and acquisition of ICT equipment; (ii) construction of latrines and water points in a select number of schools, and (iii) the construction/rehabilitation of school infrastructure. [...] The SEP will be commensurate with the nature and scale of the project and the associated risks and impacts. [...] Also, during the preparation, the OHS standards for the construction of schools will be defined and to which the workers will have to comply. [...] In addition, to ensure health and safety of workers during the construction and operational phases of the project, the PIU will develop and implement a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) plan that is consistent with World Bank Group’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Guidelines. [...] The clients shall ensure that the ESS2 requirements are incorporated into: (a) the contracts between the Recipient and the Contractor and any entity (including the Owner’s Engineer) supervising the Project’s civil works; and (b) the contracts between the Contractor and any Contractors’ subcontractors.
