The purpose of the Conference is to mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Con- vention on the Rights of the Child (the Convention) by t. [...] Thirty years after the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child we are looking for answers of the following questions: what is the understanding of the involved community of lawyers in Bulgaria on these topics; what are the key points of the Con- vention that provide guarantees of justice for the child; who are the advocates for the rights of the child in the justice system. [...] She is one of the leading experts in the development of the Child Protection Act and its subsequent amendments, as well as one of the authors of the Sofia Strategy on the Rights of the Child (2016-2021). [...] The Committee on the Rights of the Child (the Committee) has identified article 12 as one of the four general principles of the Convention, the others being the right to non-discrimination, the right to life and development, and the primary consideration of the child’s best interests, which highlights the fact that this article establishes not only a right in itself, but should also be considered. [...] The greater the impact of the outcome on the life of the child, the more relevant the appropriate assessment of the maturity of that child.
