[...] Moreover, the inflow of remittances as such can be a response 30 31 of the migrant household member to the situation of household members in the communities of origin. [...] Variables on household characteristics 8 included in the model are the size of the household, age of the household head, gender of the 9 10 household head, and the education level of the household head. [...] The coefficient for the 38 39 distance from the homestead to land use patches was significant only in the model for perennials 40 cultivation area: an increase in the distance had a positive significant impact on the perennials 41 42 cultivation area, though the magnitude of the impact was very small.
