Ukraine and the European Green Deal 6/ 49 1 The EU and Eastern Europe in the context of the EGD 1.1 The importance of decarbonisation in the EaP region Decarbonisation of Eastern Europe is indispensable to reaching the EU's objective of a climate-neutral Europe, and the EC recognises the importance of actions in these coun- tries.
