China - Zhengzhou Urban Rail Project (English)

During the project preparation, the project laid a strong foundation to ensure that the design of the station and facilities have incorporated gender parity considerations in terms of access to the system. [...] The Bank financing was dedicated 100% for infrastructure under Component 1 because with only four civil work contracts it was easier to manage for the Bank and the client; and part of the TA component to ensure Bank’s influence on the implementation of the TA recommendations. [...] Nonetheless, the Bank supported multimodal integration, TOD and the strengthening of urban transport institutional aspects through the deep engagement with the client throughout the project. [...] Zhengzhou Urban Rail Project (P128919) The Bank recommended to separate the construction and O&M to avoid the contract being too large, and extend the duration to a 25 year PPP contract with 5 years of construction and 20 years of O&M to ensure that rolling stock and equipment are properly maintained and utilized until the end of their life and proper life cycle maintenance. [...] The design of the RF, sources of data, and definitions of indicators were agreed with the ZM and URC and presented clearly in the RF.
