Women’s unpaid care work forms the bedrock of all societies and effectively serves as a huge subsidy to the rest of the economy. Nancy Folbre, professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts, whose research explores the interface between political economy and feminist theory, discusses the value of unpaid care work, over representation of women in the care sector, wage penalty for care workers and why societies need to value care work.
