Bridging the Gap Between Simulation and the Real World An Application to FDD

25 Jul 2014

The benefits are twofold: reducing the impact of the faults on the overall energy consumption of the building, and avoiding serious damage to the equipment. [...] The outputs of the model that correspond to the physical quantities measured in the real plant are the condenser and evaporator water temperatures leaving the chiller and , and the chilled water mass flow rate. [...] The red line shows the results based on the estimation of the UKF, while the black line is based on the results provided by the smoother. [...] The red and the green lines represent the estimation of the efficiency using the UKF and the smoother. [...] The plot on the top shows the presence of a fault in the chiller, while the plot on the bottom shows the probability that the chiller is faulting.
