[...] The administration of the National Library of Ireland has been transferred from the Department of Education to the Department of An Taoiseach (Prime Minister). [...] Following a major reorganisation of the public sector from 1987 onwards, the following changes have been implemented at semi- state level : The National Board for Science and Technology (NBST) and the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards (URS) were merged in 1987 and reconstituted as EOLAS, the Irish Science and Technology Agency.
