Kim Jong-un’s statement that North Korea will never give up its nuclear weapons should not have come as a surprise to anyone.Since the country has officially declared that it is now a nuclear‐​weapons power, the United States and its allies need to move on from the quixotic goal of getting Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear ambitions. For nearly three decades, Washington has led an international effort to isolate North Korea until it agrees to a complete, verifiable, and irreversible end to its nuclear program.
