The consequences of such collapse will be global and essentially permanent, impacting especially the world’s most vulnerable, and largely populations far from polar and mountain regions through sea-level rise, loss of mountain water resources, permafrost thaw and emissions, and critical acidification of polar oceans. [...] Development of media contacts to more effectively communicate the vital importance of cryosphere, as key to protecting the entire climate system and preserving the lives and livelihoods of billions, is an essential goal of this position in 2023. [...] RESPONSIBILITIES Key: • Manage day-to-day media outreach and communications for ICCI and especially in connection with UNFCCC and “AMI” efforts; • Establish and maintain relationships with global climate and science journalists, focused on English-speaking media but with significant attention also to other-language outlets as agreed with the Global and Regional Directors; • Manage COP-28 media out.
