Who is leading the critical technology race? To build ASPI’s Critical Technology Tracker website, we collected and analysed research papers published between 2018 and 2022 in 44 technology areas. For each technology, a custom search query was developed for the Web of Science database. 44 technologies are tracked under the following headings: Advanced materials and manufacturing; Artificial Intelligence, computing and communications; Energy and environment; Quantum; Biotechnology, gene technology and vaccines; Sensing, timing and navigation; and Defence, space, robotics and transportation.
