MANDATE REPORT - SCAR Collaborative Working Group on Sustainable Animal Production (CWG SAP)

All activities will contribute to the group’s work in the new mandate period, in particular to the work on the future of livestock farming in Europe. [...] In the years 2020 and 2021, the work of all partners was impeded by the COVID19 pandemic. [...] In 2019, the CWG SAP carried out a study analyzing the development of the EU livestock sector during the last 60 years. [...] After having systematically looked at the present (“Country report” 2015) and at the past, and which factors shaped today’s livestock farming (see study mentioned above), in October 2022, the CWG SAP conducted an expert workshop on the future of livestock farming. [...] In particular, on request of the CWG SAP, a comparison of existing national livestock strategies of 20 European countries was conducted at Wageningen University, and used for the October workshop.
