[...] The root causes of terrorism in the world The scientific and expert debates about the causes of terrorism in the world have an important place for the theory on the root causes that lie in the historically conditioned inequalities in the distribution of power and wealth both globally and locally. [...] Similar to the process of social categorisation as the basis for the existence of prejudice in which the ingroup (the one to which we belong) and the outgroup are distinguished, terrorism also requires the separation of people into two categories. [...] One of the first preconditions of terrorism is collectivism, i.e., the prioritisation of the group over the individual. [...] Analyses of terrorism from the individual level, which were based on the psychological characteristics of the individual, after the initial research in this direction, led to the rejection of assumptions about the existence of a specific terrorist type of personality.
